Challenges

At Afternoon Tea (AT), we believe in giving players the power to take charge of their progression. If you’re striving for a higher rank but the target container is full, a challenge gives you the opportunity to prove you’re ready for that next step. But how do these challenges work, and when are they necessary?

First, let’s define “challenge”.

An AT Challenge is a mechanism that allows players to compete for a promotion when the container they want to move into is full. If you feel you deserve the promotion now, a challenge is your chance to prove it.

In a challenge, you’ll face off against three (or more) candidates from the container above. To win the challenge, you must:

  1. Beat at least one of the defenders in the next PR (Personal Rewards) round of CVC (Clan vs Clan).
  2. Your ATI rank must also land higher than the player you’re replacing. This ensures that not only have you outperformed them in the PR, but you also hold a rank that justifies the promotion.

If you succeed, you’ll swap places with the defeated player and move up.

Challenges come into play under the following circumstances:

  • When the target container is full – You can’t simply be promoted directly, so a challenge is required to make room for you.
  • When the target container is competitive – In certain containers, leadership may decide a challenge is necessary to maintain performance standards. This ensures that promotions are earned, not handed out, and keeps the competition healthy.

Not every promotion requires a challenge. In some cases, standard promotions are sufficient, especially when:

  • The target container has vacancies – If there’s room and the container is not PR competitive, a simple promotion request will get you there without needing a challenge.
  • Leadership discretion – If leadership feels that skipping the challenge will strengthen the group, a direct promotion may be granted.

If you’re taking on a challenge, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Prepare for the PR – You’ll need to perform well in the next Personal Rewards round of CVC. Be ready to outshine at least one of the three defenders to claim your spot.
  2. Ensure your ATI rank is higher – Your ATI rank must land higher than the player you are swapping with to complete the promotion.
  3. Stay determined – Challenges are about empowering you to take control of your progression. If you’re confident you deserve the promotion, this is your chance to prove it.

Challenges are about empowering players. They give you the opportunity to prove your worth and move up the ranks on your own terms. If you’re ready for the next level and the container is full, you don’t have to wait—take charge and challenge yourself.

At AT, we believe in merit-based promotions that reflect a player’s commitment, effort, and skill. Whether you’re challenging for a spot in a full container or simply aiming to prove yourself, the system ensures that you earn your place and that every player has a fair shot at advancement.
